40. If any person is proved to the satisfaction of a Magistrate to have been infected with a contagious disease in any registered brothel, the keeper thereof shall be liable to a fine not exceeding two hundred dollars, or to imprison-

dent for any torm not exceeding six months.

41. If any person is proved to the satisfaction of a La Magistrate to infected with a contagious disonso

42. If any child, being in the opinion of a Magistrate ahovo eight and under fifteen years of age, be found in any registered brothel, the keeper thereof shall be liable to a fine not exceeding ong bundred dollars, or to imprisonment with or without hard labour for any term not exceeding one month for the first offence, three months for the second offence, muud six mouths for the third or any subsequent offence.

43. Every woman who resides in freqnouts or is found in an unregistered brothel for the purposes of prosti- tation shall upon proof thereof to the satisfaction of a Ma- gistrate be liable to a fine not exceeding fifty dollars, or to imprisonment for any term not exceeding two months.

44. Every person who keeps an unregistered bro- thel shall be liable on summary conviction before a Magistrate for the first offence to a fine not exceeding ono hundred dollars or to imprisonment with or without hard labour for a term not exceeding three mouths, for the second offence to a fine not excceding two hundred dollars or to imprisonment with or without hard labour for a torm not exceeding six months, and for a third and any subsequent offence to a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars or to imprisonment with or without hard labour for a term not exceeding twolve months, provided that the Magistrate may punish such offender both by fine and imprisonment if he ihiuks fit.

45. Evory woman who is found in any street, road, mat-shed, or other place within one mile of any district for the purposes of prostitution, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding twenty-five dollars or to imprisonment for any term not execeding three months with or without hard labour.

46. Every woman who is found on board of any ship, junk, boat, sampan, or craft of any kind or description within Colonial waters, for the purposes of prostitution, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding twenty-five dollars or to be imprisoned for any term not exceeding three months with

or without hard labour.

47. Every person apparently in charge of any juak, boat, sampan, or craft when any woman is found therein for the purposes of prostitution, shall be liable to the samo penalties as in the preceding section mentioned, and in addition thereto such junk, bont, sampan, or craft, may on proof of any woman having been found thoroin for the purposes aforesaid be forfeited to the crown.

43. Police officers may take into custody without warrant any person offending against either of the three last proced- ing sections and to seize, detain, and take possession of any junk, boat, sampau or craft in which any woman is found for the purposes aforesaid,

49. If any person being the occupier of any house, room, or place, or boing manager or assistant in the manage- mont thereof, having reasonable cause to believe any woman to be a common prostitnto induces or suffers her to resort to or be in that house, room, or place for the purpose of prostitution, he shall be guilty of an offence against this Ordinance nad on summary conviction before a Magistrate shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding one hundred dollars, or to impri- sonment for any term not execoding six months with or without hard labour.

50. Every person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance or of any regulation made under it shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, except where otherwise provided by this Ordinancs or by any regulations under it, shall be liable 02 summary conviction beforo a Magistrate to a fine not exceeding two hundred dollars, or to imprisonment with or without hard labour for any term not exceeding six months.
